History of Haunted Transue Hotel
The Haunted Transue Hotel is created by Studio Transue, an architect and maquettebuilder in Haarlem. Halloween has always been a passion for Adam Doyce Transue. Originally from Florida, USA, Halloween has always been an important holiday for him. Living in The Netherlands since 1998, Halloween was never really that popular of a holiday, but within the last several years, it has! Over the last three years Studio Transue had a small haunted house that was made for his neighbourhood located at the old atelier of Studio Transue.
These haunts were called Terror on the Teslastraat. One year’s theme was based on scarecrows, another one on Werewolfs and last year ‘s theme was Medusa. Last year the small haunted house attracted over 800 visitors in one night. These haunts were not advertised, but through word of mouth.
In the links below are documentaries and articles written about the past “Terror on the Teslastraat”.
Please take a look to get a feeling of how our haunts are made and presented by using these handmade props and actors. Studio Transue makes most of the larger props by using found material either in garbage and recycle containers and donated material from businesses and residents of Haarlem. Since using these materials and changing them to create a new object allows this haunt to be more an organic experience.
This year’s haunt sponsored by the Gemeente Haarlem, residents and businesses of Haarlem, Studio Transue hopes to create an experience that all people of Haarlem will remember for years to come. To be able to continue Halloween in the future, Studio Transue needs donations and
sponsorship to create new themes and haunts. All donations will be used for the event.
Happy Halloween voor Haarlem van Haarlemmers.
